Fall is our favorite time of year in Minnesota even if it IS the shortest season. The fall colors are gorgeous and the weather is perfection. We took advantage last Saturday and went to visit an apple orchards our friends had introduced us to.
We started by watching Evie run through the pumpkin patch and climb on the haystacks. After stopping in the little shop for some apple-picking bags, we ventured out to the orchard. The first few rows were varieties of apples that weren't Joe's favorite (Honeycrisp!) so we hitched a ride on the tractor-pulled flatbed and rode to the far-side of the orchard.

Evie was very into the apple-picking though most of the low-branches were picked clean (lots of little kids perhaps?). The driver had warned everyone not to take the apples from the ground because deer may have pooped on them. Good advise.
Riley was a little mellow because he was missing a morning nap but I think he was enjoying the fresh air and cuddling with Momma. ;)
Evie found a "baby apple" and then immediately had to find a "Daddy apple" to go with it. She's a Daddy's girl alright!
On the ride back, Evie promptly ate the "baby apple" down to the core. To think I've been peeling and cutting her apples into slices this whole time!
At the store, we bought some apple cider and an apple pie along with two pumpkins. We headed back to the car with Evie and our purchases in a wagon pulled by Daddy. It was a great morning!
