Halloween

Halloween was a busy day for the kids!  Since it was on Friday, Evie had morning preschool where they had a special Halloween treat of cupcakes, much to her delight.  When Riley and I picked her up, we met some friends at McDonald's for lunch and then headed to a parade.

It was a gorgeous, sunny, 60 degree day (in October?) so we lucked out for parade weather.  The kids weren't quite sure what we were doing but with snacks and some friends, they were willing to wait around and find out.

The local schools lined up with their students in costumes to parade down mainstreet which was so much fun for the two year olds to watch.  The high school's marching band and a fire truck rounded out the parade so it was about the perfect length for Evie's attention span.

As the parade was wrapping up, Riley started getting fussy so we headed home for naps.  Which, thankfully, they took.

When Joe got home, we grabbed some dinner and headed out to meet some friends at the Kinkead's church for some Halloween festivities.  Evie was dressed as a cheerleader and Riley as a football player although he was lacking a helmet so I'm not sure if it really came across.

Evie and Joe took a tour through the maze and did a few rounds of the cake walk.  We wanted to stay for their trick-or-treating but Riley was getting fussy as we fast approached his bedtime to we made the decision to head home.

While Joe put a tired Riley to bed, I took Evie trick-or-treating to a few houses.  Unfortunately, the idea of walking up to doors and ringing the bell was a little scary to her so after carrying her to 3 or 4 houses, we went home to go through the treats she already had.  It was a fun day of activities and next year, we'll work on the trick-or-treating part.

It sounds like a good day and the kids looked great dressed up.
