The Zoo, The Zoo!

Our friends from Texas are visiting for a week so it's the perfect excuse to do all the things around the cities that we're normally too lazy for.  We thought the girls would enjoy seeing some animals so we took them to the zoo and they loved it.  It was sweet to see them holding hands as we walked in.

The first stop was the monkey house and they had to stop at the entrance to check out the statue...or did they think they were checking out the real thing?

There were lots of educational exhibits set up so the girls got to see some snakes up close.  Well, up close from their dads arms, that is.

Mommies also got a turn to hold the girls while we checked out the giraffes.  We were trying to figure out why one of them was licking the outside of the building but some mysteries aren't meant to be solved, I guess.

Riley was a good traveling companion and fell asleep as we were leaving.  He was happy for any attention and our friend Charis was more than happy to give him some.

The zoo also had a mini amusement park attached so we bought some tickets for the girls and let them go on a few rides which they did really well on.  The one where they got to pretend to drive was the biggest hit, I think.

I got to go one the teacup ride with them and they did a good job spinning the wheel all by themselves.  Fortunately for me, kids rides don't last that long. ;)

By the last ride, they were getting pretty tired so we headed home for some naps.  It was well worth the effort to take them and it's an experience I'll remember for a long time.
